Ytse Jam

Ytse Jam

(Instrumental)

Hello everybody. So today we have hit Dream Theater’s first instrumental track, which is amazing. I think the fact that it is on their first album makes it even better. It takes talent to make an awesome instrumental track and Dream Theater has it even in the beginning. This track is of special importance because of its name. The original name of Dream Theater was Majesty. They changed the name because there was already another band named Majesty. The name of this track is named after Majesty. It is Majesty spelled backwards. I must admit it is a pretty majestic song. Take a listen. You won’t regret it.

So today I attended my first Shabbat service in Israel. It was an awesome service. It started off with music. The singing was in Hebrew, but there was a power point with the words in Hebrew, Romanized English, and an English translation at the bottom. The musical style was contemporary. Next, there was scripture reading, and then there was prayer, which was open, but done in an orderly manner. Then, there was the preaching of the word. Bill Schlegel preached. He is pretty much in charge of the IBEX (Israel Bible Extension) group. He preached on Proverbs 5, which explains the folly of adultery and the wisdom of sex within the context of marriage. He was describing the fact that the adulteress is enticing but going into her leads to death. To bring that point home he quoted the adage, “Not all that glitters is gold.” This point hit me. There is just something about the forbidden that excites us. We want to do what we are not supposed to do. You may have the most beautiful wife ever, but there is just something exciting and exhilarating about having a secret lover; of living a secret life. Though the woman and the act of committing adultery seems like it would bring happiness and joy and an adventure, it just doesn’t deliver. It delivers shame, guilt, misery, broken families, and depravity. It delivers death. The sad thing is so many people inside and outside the church are adulterers. They vowed faithfulness to their spouse, but they just could not say no to the temptress; they could not say no to forbidden desire. Even more so, there are so many that commit adultery in the mind. Jesus says, “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery’; but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” So many of us have disgusting forbidden fantasies in our minds. We may never go into anyone other then our wife, but in our mind we are the worst of adulterers. That is me. I have committed adulteries I am so ashamed of in my mind. So disgusting. So vile.

Now let’s stop talking about sin. Let’s talk about Majesty. I may say Ytse Jam is majestic but there is only one who is truly Majestic and that is Jesus Christ. He is the one and only King and Sovereign. He is so amazing and awesome. His majesty is shown in His grace. The ruler of the universe came down to earth to save sinners. God condescended to earth to save adulterers. Jesus took our adultery; our forbidden pleasure upon himself on the cross; and God, the Father punished him for that sin (and every other sin that was layed upon Him). He was punished and murdered for our sake. But because He is Majesty, death could not keep Him. He conquered sin and death for His people on the cross. Those who put their faith in Christ are forgiven and declared blameless because of what Christ did. They are clothed with Christ’s perfection. Though, we may still seem disgusting and still have our flesh that wants to sin, we have Christ’s righteousness, therefore, God no longer has wrath for us. He showers only His grace on us. He is working out all for our good and He will never leave nor forsake us. He loves us with no conditions whatsoever. Turn from your sin and turn to Jesus Christ, trusting in Him alone for your salvation, and you will be saved. Jesus truly is Majesty.
